Hi everyone and thanks for reading.I am off on another trip and thought I could write about this one. Who knew Lyn would do more unspeakable things in Vegas than the time I went with Jeff and the boys???
I am off to The Netherlands this time, for a week, and thought I would keep a journal both for my entertainment and (hopefully) yours. As I am writing this I am at 38,000 feet above sea level, somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, heading towards Greenland, Iceland and the Continent.
My trip thus far has been an eye opener.I am traveling with my friend David, who has a conference to go to for three days, and he graciously asked me to come along to see the sight. We left Edmonton Saturday afternoon and we were in FIRST CLASS on a little plane to Chicago.I was quite impessed by the extra leg and body room and the nice box of snacks and little bottle of scotch I was given but David told me to wait until we got on the big plane.
Chicago's O'Hare airport is as big and busy as everyone says. Cool lights above the moving walkways.
This is where the swearing begins.....
HOLY FUCK!!!!!! was what I thought when I entered the plane. In the first class section they have "pods" instead of seats. TV's, remotes, pillows, blanket, storage, 155+ movies to watch, and a seat that powers down into a bed. HOLY FUCK!!!!!I was completely overwhelmed for the first hour. Luckily we were still on the tarmac as we had a slight mechanical problem with one of the engines. Those are best dealt with while still on the ground.
Back to the luxury..... off my menu I ordered some yummy food. Crab cake with braised endive, goat cheese and tomato confit with a lemon caper vinigrette and a cuury tomato lentil soup.
For the entree, grilled salmon with sea salt and racked black pepper, accompanied with a saffron and pea risotto accented by cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. Dave picked the wine : a 2008 Chateau Neuf du Pape that kicked ass and went nice with the bourbon I am drinking.....
Major fucking turbulence right now... the wine almost tipped . oopsie
Having flown on a lot of shitty small economy and charter flights in my life I am savoring every bit of this flight as it's not likely to happen again. And even though I don't know what most of what i had for supper was.... I'm really looking forward to breakfast.
Stay tuned for some land based adventures.
Jimmy
