Amsterdam Day 7 - Busses, Boats, Windmills & Clogs
Today we hopped on a bus, to go and see some of the countryside. First stop was at a historical village to see some windmills.
After learning how windmills make flour, back on the bus to the small village of Volendam where we had lunch, went for a walk and caught a boat to Marken island.
Marken island has traditional houses painted black and green, and built on stilts. After they built a dam to control the yearly flooding, they bricked up the bottom of their homes.
We went to a clog manufacturing place and David watched how they are formed. I smoked and took pictures. My brain was full.
We went out after getting back to Amsterdam, and went to a few places we had been before... cafes and bars, to have a few beers and food fom our favorite places. Now its early to bed. The flight home tomorrow is going to be a long one.
I hope you have enjoyed my travel blog. I have enjoyed writing it. Stay tuned for more....Paris, Italy, Fort McMurray?????? who knows............
