Touring The Countryside

Friday, we decided to take the Jeep to Punta Mita, in Nayarit State on the northern tip of the Bay of Banderas. It was a very nice relaxing drive up the coast. The town itself was going through some major roadwork, but the beach was very relaxing. Did a little snorkeling and had a CocoLoco. Basically a bunch of crap inside a coconut....MMMM. Booze!!!

Friday night, Kim flew in from Toronto and everyone made an awesome supper. Then it was out on the town to have a few late night drinks.

Saturday was a hangover day for me, and then some gift shopping. I bought Sean a Spiderman wrestling mask. Hopefully he won't come off the top rope while wearing it.

I had one last dip in the pool and got ready for the trip home. The girls had dinner plans that would have made me miss my plane, (so very tempting), so Jeff and I went out for one last meal at La Dolca Vita. Best pizza ever! And then poof. Home again, right in the middle of a snowstorm. Thus ends this chapter of Jim's Journeys. Stay tuned for a new adventure soon. Thanks for reading.

Taking it Easy

Wed. night Jeff and I decided to go to the Malecon, which is the principal entertainment area for Peurto Vallata. We went to a couple of bars, Hilo & The Zoo, where I got my fill of American teenagers on spring break.(That took about 5 minutes)lol.

I didn't take any pictures but I'm sure if you google for them, you will find lots.

Thursday was a nice day, I got up at noon...ahhhh. Cleaned up a little, did some laundry, etc. and then Lulu and Monica arrived. We went out for the nicest supper I have had in a long time. We ate at Casa Narango (orange house) It had a great menu and a bright open kitchen and a wonderfully fun waiter, Mario. Jeff - "Can I get....?" Mario - "No." Everyone laughs. Jeff - "So I can get....". Mario -"No."

We went for a walk and dropped Jeff off home. Then the girls and I went to Andelays for a couple of drinks. Its a fun little spot in Old Town where we were the youngest people there. Great music, cheap drinks, and old ladies dancing on the bar.

Dirty, Bloody, Hot & Tired...But Oh So Happy

Yesterday was a very tame day. I hung out by the pool for two hours, and then went for a couple hour walk downtown. Then we had an awesome BBQ and watched the Oilers win one. Cmon, that is a perfect day, no matter where you are.

Today was another story. Jeff and I wanted to go on a snorkeling tour, but as there are three cruiseships in the marina that was not happening. So we walked down the hill and rented a Jeep Wrangler. I read a guidebook and we took off south.

We stopped in a little town called Boca de Tomatlan and rented a boat whch took us to Los Arcos, a bunch of huge rocks located offshore of Mismaloya. It is a marine preserve and we went snorkeling there. YAY!!! Because it is me I got drug across some reef and after getting out of the water, noticed copious amounts of blood running down both legs and the back of my ankle. :-)

I am of course fine but am thinking of going to the Farmacia for some Peroxidia.

Then we turned away from the water and drove into the Sierra Madres a little bit and stopped for lunch at Chino's. It has natural rock waterslides, diving areas and ziplines all around us along with a blindfolded diver..... We were pretty tired so we just had lunch... Lol. And now I am back at the Condo looking for a rest. Hope you like the pics and I'll try and post a video.

Sunburn Stupidity

I'm going to start off and talk about yesterdays trip to Costco. Here you pay for the hotdog and then they make it for you!!!!!! .... I KNOW!!!!! Lol. Anyway got the boys to the airport yesterday, went to Costco and then dropped off the rental car. Jeff barbequed a "Rooster fish" that he caught on thursday on a deep sea fishing trip. it was about 30 lbs I think. Really tasted great, like marlin or swordfish, very steaky. mmmm.

Today we walked down the steep hill to the beach (about 10 minutes), hung out there drinking beer at a beach club/restaurant La Palapas for about 5 hours. I had fish tacos!!!!! My board shorts were way to long so i rolled them up to above mid-thigh.... didn`t apply suntan lotion to the newly exposed skin..... I`m a dumbass. Lol. Now I am back at Casa de Tuco (Jeff`s place), after walking back up the steep hill (way longer than 10 minutes), shaved, showered and waiting for the other sunburn boy to get out of his bed.

Looking forward to a nice steak for supper and tracking down a snorkeling trip for later this week.

Thanks for reading, post me a comment let me know you are reading,

Getting there is half the fun.

Well I made it to Puerto Vallarta and after 26 hours am still (mostly) injury free.

The flight was a pain, as expected.... delay in Edmonton for de-icing, couldn't taxi to runway due to extreme fog, luggage took forever to come out.... wah wah wah. To bad. I guess I'll just have to let the weather here cheer me up.

It is sunny and gorgeous. As soon as I got here, we got ready and went to a local beach. Jeff said it was good for snorkeling but it had huge waves and a really powerful riptide so that was not an option. I cut my foot on some rocks in the water but its just a slice and not going to ruin my fun.

We went out for a nice meal for the boy's last night here. Good steaks and lots of laughs. Then into town for some drinking. Lots of people everywhere just having a party on the streets. Our last stop of the night Senor Frogs, was so busy that rather than walk through the crowd to exit, Jeff and The Duke jumped out a window. To be fair we were rather D-Runk. Gotta go get ready. Driving Mike and The Duke to the airport and then to Costco for steaks.

2 days to go

Well, I am getting ready, slowly, for the punishing "charter" flight to PVR on Saturday. There are some drawbacks to being the rugged, mountain of a man that you all know.... Well actually only one.... airplane seats. I am completely prepared to ignore everyone, however, the ipod is loaded with good movies and a full charge.

My buddies are heading down on Thursday but 2 of them are coming back on Sunday, so we will have to make Sat. night count. Knowing The Duke, it shouldn't be a problem.

I've got my snorkle gear and underwater camera all packed, I hope I get to use them this time. Jeff told me that only tourists wear shorts out on the town, so that we should pack jeans in order to fit in with the locals. Ya, the jeans will totally take away the fact that the two freakishly tall white(red) guys can't speak Spanish.

If you are reading this on the facebook, follow the link to the blog or check on this http://www.jimmyjimjimsjourneys.blogspot.com/ It's a little easier on the eyes. Leave me a comment and let me know you are following along..... Be nice..... yes, I'm talking to you.....

Blogging

So after reading my friend Glen's travel blog, I thought I would perhaps start my own.

I went on vacation to Mexico by myself last year and got injured about 18 hours after I arrived. Had I started this at that point, I would have been able to kill a lot of time, instead of drinking in the pool all day(every day).

Then I went to Vegas with the boys and would have been killed had I wrote anything or taken pictures. So maybe it's for the best that I didn't have a blog until now.

Anyway I am heading to Peurto Vallarta in a few days to meet up with Jeff, Mike and The Duke. I'll try to update fairly frequently. I will be aiming for eloquence and hilarity but I will settle for not being boring. I hope you will do the same....
